Colorado Springs City Council has approved funding for private security to be hired to patrol south Nevada Avenue. Merchants have complained about vandalism, theft, vagrants and drug sales which they say have kept customers away and put them in danger. City council will provide 458 thousand dollars from marijuana sales tax that will go to the hiring of security that will patrol the area 7 days a week. Those patrols will be complimented by a drone that will keep an eye on things from above. No word on when those private security patrols will begin.
