Colorado Parks and Wildlife received 2 reports of bear attacks on people over the last several days. A woman living in South Fork called police and said she was bitten by a bear Friday morning. She had been camping when the bear ripped through her tent and bit her on the arm. She was treated at a hospital. Sunday in Durango a woman sleeping in a condo said a bear ripped out a window screen and came into her bedroom. She hid under the covers, but the bear sniffed her out and took a couple of swipes at her. She had several scratch marks. Officials were trying to catch the bear Monday but were unsuccessful. Bear attacks have been on the rise this year throughout the state.
