A man injured in a massive explosion in Cañon City is identified as 32-year-old Matthew Christensen. He was inside a home that was destroyed by a natural gas explosion early Thursday. His injuries are not life threatening.
Christensen was flung into the backyard of the home but was on his feet when responders arrived. Everyone within two blocks was temporarily evacuated. No one else was hurt.The incident was reportedly a suicide attempt. Christensen allegedly confessed to disconnecting his furnace, hoping the gas would kill him. It’s unclear if he’ll face any charges.
