Sad news from the El Paso County Sheriff’s office as they announce the death of K-9 Officer Mako, who passed away Wednesday. Mako was a dual-purpose German Shepard. The sheriff’s department said the canine officer was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He was medically retired and spent his last days with his handler Deputy Richardson and his family. Mako started with the department last July after working for the Fountain Police Department.
