Car meets, illegal street racing and illegal activity Sunday nights at Memorial Park are forcing city officials to close the park at 7pm, two hours earlier than usual. Springs police are trying to deter street racing and other activities. They received a lot of calls for service in the park during the summer for those activities, which includes illegal drug use. City workers say people are also leaving trash and debris during these car meets as well. City officials say park hours will remain normal on other days.
