At the Space Symposium at the Broadmoor General Stephen Whiting the commander of Space Command gave an update on the transition of the command to Huntsville Alabama. He said 8 staffers have already moved and started working this week in Huntsville. By the end of the year some 200 personnel are expected to be working in Huntsville although not all will come from Colorado Springs. The commands work force is 60% civilian in the springs. As an incentive to move to Alabama Space Command is offering 10% raises and 25% bonuses on their contracts each year for 4 years. Whiting and local officials also said there will be more jobs created in Colorado prings to support the command. The move is expected to be completed in 2031 or 32.
