El Paso County Commissioners have come out against a proposed sales tax question on the November ballot, that if approved, would raise money for the “Colorado Connector” rail passenger service that would give state residents rail service from Fort Collins to Trinidad, including two stops in Colorado Springs. Commissioners said the tax would be a long term proposition for a system that would take years to be completed. “Coco” officials say they have the money to begin construction of the service from Denver to Fort Collins. They are asking residents in counties where the service would run through, to pass a sales tax to fund the rest of the system from Denver to Trinidad.
