Another bond hearing Tuesday for Debra Nichols. The Colorado Springs mother was convicted of setting a house fire that killed her children in 2003. She was sentenced to life in prison but earlier this year a judge ruled the prosecution withheld evidence and threw out her conviction. She is now trying to get out of jail on bond. A detective who worked the case testified Tuesday saying while Nichols was reported to be a good mother by family and friends she and her husband were in severe debt and set the fire to collect on the insurance. The judge says a ruling on the bond request should come by the end of the week. The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office is expected to re-try the case.
