A Colorado Springs mothers’ murder conviction has been vacated. Debra Nichols lost 3 of her children in a house fire in the springs in 2003. She and her husband Tim were found guilty of intentionally setting the fire. Prosecutors alleged the couple used an accelerant and left candles burning in the home while both were out of the house, causing the deaths of their children 11 year old Jay, 5 year old Sophia and 3 year old Sierra. Deborah was sentenced on 3 counts of 1st degree murder and other charges. But now a judge has ruled that during Debra’s trial evidence was suppressed by the prosecution. She has been moved from a correctional facility to the El Paso County Jail and hopes to have a bond hearing sometime this month.
